Dr. Askew Farewell Assembly - 5/7/08

Some folks have requested to see the words from Mrs. Kathy Letkeman's song "You're a Good Man." The phrases she used in her song came directly from our students' own descriptions of Dr. Askew.

You’re A Good Man
Words & Music by Cathy Letkeman

A kind and humble servant
Through whom we’ve all been blessed.
You taught us many lessons
and brought out of us our best.
You cared for every person
Saw each face and knew each name.
Though what you’ve given will stay with us
It will never be the same.

Chorus:

We’ll miss your songs.
We’ll miss your wisdom.
And the joy that lights your face.
Your early morning greetings
And your kind and gentle ways.
The way you met all of life’s worries
On your knees in prayer.
You’re a good man.
And we’ll miss you in this place.

A man of godly wisdom
Who lived and walked his faith.
Jesus’ love put into motion
In your words and in your ways.
An ear that heard our troubles.
A heart that felt our need.
And you led us to the Father
And in prayer we would agree.

The Race for Education - 11/30/07

Students Run, Playground Purchased

On November 30, the entire Cornerstone community joined together for the Race for Education. Through the efforts of our students and the generous donations from families and friends, the Race for Education raised over $22,000! This coupled with a matching grant from children's fitness foundation has enabled CCA to purchase a playground which should be installed some time in February. Praise God! Click here to read more.

Mini Musters Program - 10/11/07

Young Fire Fighters Learn Basics

In mid October, Cornerstone second graders participated in the Mini Musters program sponsored by Rural Metro Fire. The program taught the studetns essential safety tips. Some of the events the mini musters performed included a bucket brigade, using actual fire fighting equipment to put out simulated fires, practicing home fire escape routes, getting wet, and having a great time! Eight different fire fighters donated their time and energy to give our students a real hands-on experience.
