Administrative Staff
Headmaster
Dr. Thomas Askew has served for thirty-three years in God’s school system, both as administrator and classroom teacher. With dual certification at both elementary and secondary levels, Dr. Askew has taught every elementary grade and most high school subjects at some point. He also taught one year in public school but was released for good behavior (too good!). This is Dr. Askew’s seventh year at Cornerstone Christian Academy, having moved to Tucson in 2001 after twenty-four years in Cochise County, where he started three different Christian schools. His degrees are from West Georgia College and the University of Arizona. His nerdy hobbies include reading everything in sight, writing, linguistics, and trivia-collecting. He and his wife Linda have four grown sons and are members of Catalina Foothills Church, PCA.
Assistant Headmaster
Mr. Brian McKinley is serving his tenth year in the Catalina Foothills Church schools. On receiving his bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona, he assisted Jack Beckman in starting Cornerstone Christian Academy in 1998. In 1999 he moved out of an administrative role and into the classroom as Cornerstone’s Latin teacher. From 2001 - 2004, Mr. McKinley taught Latin and Logic, served as assistant athletic director, and coached volleyball and basketball at Pusch Ridge Christian Academy. In July of 2004, Mr. McKinley returned to Cornerstone to serve as the Assistant Headmaster. In 2006 he attained a Master of Education degree in education administration. He and his wife Laurel have a daughter in second grade at Cornerstone and a six-year-old son in Cornerstone's kindergarten program. The McKinley's are members of Rincon Mountain Presbyterian Church.
Teacher Support and Resource Coordinator
Mrs. Sarah Moulson is currently in her seventh year at Cornerstone Christian Academy. In previous years, she taught kindergarten and third grade, and this year she is excited about her new role as the school’s Teacher Support and Resource Coordinator. She was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, and attended college at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. She earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education with an emphasis in English and Language Arts. Having been blessed by her own upbringing in Christian schools, she considers it a privilege to be now serving God as a Christian educator herself. Mrs. Moulson enjoys traveling, reading, spending time with her husband Steve, and serving with him at Desert Springs Presbyterian Church.
Athletic Director
Mr. Jeff Jones is in his fifth year on the faculty at Cornerstone Christian Academy. In addition to teaching physical education for grades 1-6 and Latin in grades 4-6, Mr. Jones serves as Athletic Director, with additional administrative responsibilities for campus security. Originally from Ohio, Jeff Jones played football, basketball, and baseball in both high school and college. His undergraduate degree in Speech Communications is from East Stroudsburg ( Pennsylvania) University, and his recently completed Master of Education degree is from Northern Arizona University. Prior to serving at Cornerstone, Mr. Jones worked in the Tucson financial lending and baking sector for nearly seven years. He and his wife, Autumn, attend Catalina Foothills Church, PCA. Mr. Jones’ hobbies and passions include ancient history, all things Italian, and participating in and watching sports of all types (especially the Boston Red Sox and Ohio State football and basketball).
Bookkeeper and Office Manager
Mrs. Mary Yantis serves as office manager and bookkeeper and has been at Cornerstone Christian Academy from the beginning. She and her husband Stewart were one of the founding families of the school. Their oldest child, Katie, is at Pima Community College. They have a son, Scott, who attends Pusch Ridge Christian Academy, and their youngest, Lisa, is a fifth grader at C.C.A. Mrs. Yantis was born in Yankton, South Dakota and moved to Tucson when she was six years old. She is a charter member of Catalina Foothills Church, PCA.
Adminstrative Assistant
Mrs. Betsy Dunlap is in her second year as Administrative Assistant for Cornerstone Christian Academy. Her previous administrative experience includes working for the University of Arizona Residence Life department for four years, and for the University of Arizona Bookstore for two. Betsy is a native Tucsonan, graduating from the University of Arizona with a degree in English in 2005. She recently spent a summer in Austria teaching English. In April, 2006, she was married to Nick Dunlap, a teacher at Aletheia Academy, and they are exuberantly settling into married life after spending time in France and England. Betsy enjoys traveling, reading, gardening, baking, pursuing her dream of writing children’s books, and learning how to glorify God with her life as it unfolds. She and her husband are members of Rincon Mountain Presbyterian Church.
Director of First Impressions
Mrs. Laurel McKinley is in her second year serving as receptionist for Cornerstone Christian Academy. She was born in rainy Portland, Oregon, but has spent most of her life in sunnier Tucson, Arizona. From 1992 to 1996 she served as the youth ministry secretary at Christ Community Church, and from 1996 to 2000 she was the administrative assistant for youth ministries at Catalina Foothills Church. Mrs. McKinley has been married for fourteen years to Brian McKinley, Cornerstone's Assistant Headmaster. They have a daughter, Shannon, in second grade, and a son, Austin, in kindergarten, both at Cornerstone. She and her husband are members of Rincon Mountain Presbyterian Church.
