Homeroom Faculty
Kindergarten
Miss Autumn Champion is a first year teacher at Cornerstone. Last year she was a student teacher in one of the first grade classrooms. She was born in San Diego, California and grew up in Orange County, California. She attended the University of Arizona and earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She also played on the University of Arizona softball team for her four years at the college. Miss Champion enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and dog. She loves relaxing and watching children grow in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
Mrs. Kimberly Schmidt is in her fourth year of teaching kindergarten at Cornerstone Christian Academy. She began her teaching career in Indiana where she taught third grade. After her husband was transferred to Arizona eleven years ago, she stayed home to raise her three children. Logan is now thirteen, Austin is eleven and Karli is eight. Besides her love for teaching, she enjoys camping, hiking, scrap booking, reading, and their golden retriever Sydney. Cornerstone has been a huge blessing to her and her family. Kimberly and her family attend Dove Mountain Church, PCA.
1st Grade
Mrs. Heather Fiello is in her sixth year of teaching at Cornerstone Christian Academy and her second year teaching first grade. She was born and raised in Tucson and attended the University of Arizona. Mrs. Fiello has worked with children since before her graduation in the year 2000. Her expertise with children ranges from directing an after-school education enrichment program for the Amphitheater School District to coordinating the summer program for Catalina Foothills Community Schools. She has also been a camp counselor for at-risk youth and mentored children of divorce for the Family Counseling Agency. In spring 2007 she married Martin Fiello, a friend since middle school. Martin and Heather attend Pantano Christian Church.
Mrs. Barbara Walik is in her second year teaching at Cornerstone Christian Academy. She graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara, with a bachelor's of arts degree in environmental science. She received her Arizona elementary teaching certificate and is now pursuing a master's degree in elementary education as well as a reading endorsement at Northern Arizona University. She is thrilled to be teaching in a Christian school where the Bible is integrated into all subject areas. She has two children. Her son David is twenty-two years old and serving in the military in Saudi Arabia. He and his wife blessed her with her first grandchild this year. Her daughter, Amy is seventeen and a junior in high school. Barbara is a member of Catalina Foothills Church, PCA.
2nd Grade
Mrs. Sue Brobeck is in her sixth year teaching second grade at Cornerstone Christian Academy. In 1981, she graduated with a degree in early childhood education from Messiah College in Grantham, Pennsylvania. In 1988, her husband John became a professor at the University of Arizona’s Department of Music, and Mrs. Brobeck spent the next eight years at home with her children. From 1996 until 2002, she taught at Lamb’s Gate Preschool and Kindergarten while earning her K-8 Arizona teaching certification. In addition to her teaching position at CCA, Mrs. Brobeck is the Nursery Coordinator at Northminster Presbyterian Church, where her husband is organist and Assistant Director of Music. Dr. and Mrs. Brobeck have a son and two daughters.
Mrs. Karen Fritz grew up mostly in Tucson and graduated in 1975 from the University of Arizona with a degree in secondary education. She spent eleven years substituting in elementary grades before teaching fourth grade for four years at Tucson Christian School. She is in the process of completing Pima Community College's Post-baccalaureate Elementary Education Certification program. Mrs. Fritz is a member of Fellowship Bible Church along with her husband Bob, the missions elder. They have taken a mission team to the Hopi Reservation for the past eight years. For twenty-three years, Mrs. Fritz taught a Good News Club in her home and in public schools, and for thirteen years she served in Young Life. The Fritzes have three grown sons.
3rd Grade
Miss Hannah Lehardy is in her second year as a teacher. She is a native Tucsonan but attended Asbury College in Kentucky where she received a degree in Spanish in May of 2005. She had the opportunity to study in Southern Spain for a semester and now is working on speaking Spanish without a lisp. Miss Lehardy will be teaching one of our third grade classes. She is active in her church, Grace Community Covenant Church, and she enjoys reading, studying all languages, spending time outdoors, and playing with English grammar.
Mrs. Tiffany Leon is a second year teacher at Cornerstone Christian Academy. She was born in Torrance, California, and she was married in June to her husband Ryan. Tiffany and her husband attend Calvary Chapel. Aside from teaching second grade Bible study, she also enjoys hiking, traveling, a good game of volleyball, and eating sushi. She has lived in Tucson since she was four. After she graduated from Flowing Wells High School, she immediately enrolled at the University of Arizona. She did her method courses at Harelson Elementary and student taught in a fifth grade class at Centennial Elementary. Having attended only public schools, Tiffany feels extremely blessed to be able to teach in an environment where she is able to speak God’s word.
4th Grade
Mrs. Sylvia Proulx is our newest fourth grade teacher. Last year she served as one of our first grade teachers. She come to us with eleven years of teaching experience in other Christian schools. She was born and raised in Tucson, but has lived in Sierra Vista, Arizona, for the past twenty-three years. Both Mrs. Proulx's bachelor’s degree in elementary education and recently completed master's degree in teaching and teacher education are from University of Arizona. She and her husband have raised five children, including several from the White Mountain Apache tribe. Sylvia loves to mountain bike, hike, rock climb, and cook. Sylvia husband, Ed, works with the Gospel Rescue Mission, and they attend Victory Assembly of God.
Mrs. Susan Walker is teaching fourth grade at Cornerstone Christian Academy for the sixth year. She is from Illinois originally, but has lived in Tucson for the past thirty-six years. She graduated from the University of Arizona with a dual degree in Special Education and Elementary Education. Mrs. Walker stayed home to raise her children and then returned to education. She has taught for over twelve years. Mrs. Walker and her husband have two grown sons. Jordan is a firefighter and a paramedic, and Grant is a student at Arizona State University. She is a member of Catalina Foothills Church, PCA.
5th Grade
Mrs. Stacy Bade grew up in central Illinois and graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign in 1984 with a bachelor degree in advertising. She spent ten years working as a copywriter before she returned to Eastern Illinois University to obtain her elementary teaching certificate in 1987. She taught for seven years at Judah Christian School in Champaign, Illinois, one year at Scottsdale Christian Academy, and in her third year at Cornerstone Christian Academy. Mrs. Bade enjoys reading historical nonfiction, attending the theater and her husband’s recitals, cheering on her favorite college sports team, hiking, cooking, and being active in her church, Living Hope Family Church.
Miss Susan Rich is serving in her eighth year at Cornerstone Christian Academy. After graduating from Desert Christian High School, Miss Rich attended Pima Community College and the University of Arizona, where she obtained her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. In 2004, she completed her master's degree at the University of Arizona with an endorsement as an elementary mathematics specialist. In the spring of 2004 Miss Rich was honored as the area Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year. Miss Rich enjoys reading, coaching volleyball, traveling to spend time with her family in North Carolina and volunteering at New Testament Baptist Church.

6th Grade
Mr. Jack Hauschildt is a native Tucsonan who returned to the desert in 2000 after teaching in several places around the world. He started teaching in 1975 at Immanuel Lutheran in Colorado Springs, Colorado. After teaching there for eight years, he and his family moved to southern Arizona and Mr. Hauschildt taught in Sierra Vista and Bisbee for six years. In 1988, the Hauschildts moved to Papua New Guinea to teach missionary children for eleven years. Returning to the U.S.A., Mr. Hauschildt taught on the Navajo Reservation briefly before joining the CCA staff in 2000. In the summers of 2004 - 2006, Mr. Hauschildt taught English to teachers in China with the English Language Institute in China. Jack and his wife Jill have two grown children and are members of Catalina Foothills Church, PCA.
