Enrichment Faculty

Art

Mrs. Kathy LeMayMrs. Kathy LeMay is in her sixth year of teaching at Cornerstone Christian Academy and her third year of teaching art. Mrs. LeMay majored in elementary education at the University of Arizona, with previous studies in fine arts at California State University Northridge and Mount Saint Mary’s College, both in the Los Angeles area. She has taught art to elementary, middle, and high school students, worked with special education students, and has tutored reading. She and her husband Jerry, an engineer at Raytheon, attend Dove Mountain Church, PCA.

Latin and Physical Education

Mr. Jeff JonesMr. Jeff Jones is in his fifth year at Cornerstone Christian Academy and serves as the Athletic Director and Latin Department Chair. Mr. Jones teaches physical education for grades 1-6 and Latin in grades 4-6, with additional responsibilities for campus security. Originally from Ohio, Jeff Jones played football, basketball, and baseball in both high school and college. His undergraduate degree in Speech Communications is from East Stroudsburg ( Pennsylvania) University, and his recently completed Master of Education degree is from Northern Arizona University. Prior to serving at Cornerstone, Mr. Jones would in the Tucson financial lending and baking sector for nearly seven years. He and his wife, Autumn, attend Catalina Foothills Church, PCA. Mr. Jones’ hobbies and passions include ancient history, all things Italian, and participating in and watching sports of all types (especially the Boston Red Sox and Ohio State football and basketball).

Music

Mrs. Marsha Turner is in her first year of teaching music at Cornerstone Christian Academy. Mrs. Turner majored in elementary education at Arizona State University. After homeschooling her four children for twenty-five years, she returned to teaching at Palo Verde Christian School, until its closure in summer of 2007. She currently studies violin with Helga Kolosick, and she has taught beginning violin. In addition to playing second violin with the Foothills Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Laszlo Veres, she plays frequently in an ensemble with her son and daughter. She and her husband, John, a retired fire fighter from Davis Monthan Air Force Base, attend Redeemer Lutheran church.

Inspirational Afternoons

Mr. Jeff JonesMrs. Debbie Ferg is in her third year of teaching “Inspirational Afternoons” for kindergarteners at Cornerstone. After growing up here in Tucson in Amphitheater District schools, Mrs. Ferg went to the University of Arizona, where she graduated in 1972 with a degree in Elementary Education. After teaching third grade for two years, she married Bruce Ferg, and became a full time mom to four children, now ages 19-29. Her home became her classroom, and she also provided care for her mother as well. Mrs. Ferg returned to Christian school teaching for two years at Palo Verde Christian School in their afternoon kindergarten program. She and her family attend Rincon Mountain Presbyterian Church, PCA. She is blessed to be teaching at Cornerstone, especially with her daughter.
